Maybe we should use this tribe to communicate?
I've been feeling bereft not being able to have closure on this year's amb amb tour of duty. Not just the camp practicalities (honestly I don't even want to know about the costs yet, since my job just fell out from under me) but just being able to muse on the whole thing with everyone.

For instance, after that whole day of packing up and then waiting and all the stress and strain of trying to get everything squared away in the heat of the day, we had our final hugs goodbye. As I watched the ambulance drive away into the dust, I just burst out into tears. It was a good year, and I'm so thankful I was a part of it.
I love the Ambience Ambulance!!!

Burning Man informal get together at Kings X (Oakland) this Saturday....maybe 9:30pm?

Hello Ambient Burner-types,

Some local folks from my village, Hushville (few to none of which I know - such is the nature of a 200 person village - the folks I camp with are from Seattle, Chicago, Toronto, etc.), are planning on a small get together at Kings X this Saturday. Nothing formal - just some folks sippin' some libations. By all means, in the immortal words of Monty Hall, C'mon down!

I will likley have my black top hat on. If there are multiple people at the bar with top hats, I will be the one not wearing underwear.

Kings X is at 4401 Piedmont Ave at Pleasant Valley Road.

Hope to see you there!

just in case you missed any of the rest of the posts i sent out about this. ;-)

WE NEED YOUR HELP...NOW! CALL TO ACTION: VOICE YOUR OPINION TO THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT ABOUT ARBITRARY AND UNJUSTIFIED BURNING MAN FEE INCREASES

The BLM has threatened to increase Burning Man's fees again this year without any rational justification. It's the last week of the public comment period before the BLM issues us a 2006 event permit with stipulations requiring Burning Man to pay more money than they are allowed to legally charge under the BLM regulations.Burning Man needs its community to flood the BLM with letters and emails stating that this increase is unjustified. An emergency Jack Rabbit Speaks will be going out Monday morning and there is a link on the Burning Man homepage to the full story including a sample letter to send to the BLM at http://burningman.com/news/blm_news_06.html Please forward this to your burner friends and ask everyone you know to send in their comments before next Friday, May 5th. Don't let the BLM raise Burning Man's fees again! Thank you for taking action!

I can’t say enough about Tripswitch’s debut "Circuit Breaker" on Dragonfly. It’s got all the spacey psy-chill elements (dense modulation effects, trippy arps, etc.) but also manages to lay down some groove. He even fits in some tasteful guitar. I saw that he is going to do a tour with Bluetech late in the year.

Attn: 2005 AMB AMB Project

Howdy Folks,

The man burns in 95 days! This marks that lovely time of year where we all gather together to freak out about how little time we have and how much we have to get done before then!

--This year presents some big changes for the ambulance camp, the biggest being that one of the core founding ECTs, Mike Lynch, will not be going. :^( We will miss you out there, man. Of course, this then brings up questions as to how to fill the space of such an integral part of our team, where we will be holding new work parties, etc.

--There is also a tremendous amount of overhaul to be done to the Ambulance itself. It's mostly focussed on the EL wire, but entire signs need to be redone. The EL alone is going to cost about $500, and a lot of work hours. Projected costs for the Amb (including fixing the EL, getting all the foodstuffs, additional blankets and car repairs) is about $1400.

--The camp itself will ideally be 20 to 25 ECTs. We would like to continue to have a nightly meal together, plus pitch in for the camp construction including a shower and possibly a wastewater barrel that we will pay the Johnny on the Spot boys to empty at the end of the week. Altogether this should cost about $1000. The truck costs about $2000.
So the estimated costs of us getting to and functioning at Burning Man is approximately $4400!!
Although we expect everyone to pay for their share as camp and crew members, we will likely need to have some sort of fundraiser.

--Another factor under scrutiny: Strong and clear commitments to the Ambulance both pre-playa and at B-Man. We would like to shape the camp around those who specifically are Ambulance Crew and clarify the obligations that entails. If you're camping with us, you're working as an ECT. We hope that this kind of commitment will not only help the ambulance and camp run smoother but also spreads the amount of responsibility and workload out more evenly.

--If you are expecting to camp and work with the ambulance we would like you to respond to this post by June 3rd, or contact me with your name and email adress. We will subsequently send out an evite for the first AMB meeting with possible dates so that we can get the best date for all who want to be involved. It is imperative that all ECTs come to this meeting so we can get started on the project as soon as possible.

I'm excited to hear back from you, and totally into getting us all prepped and revved to provide the best oasis of Chill for our fellow citizens of BRC. YAY!!

Cheers,
Meli
(aka *Nurse AMBer*)

Dear Amb Amb crew,

I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am for you on burn night.

We sought you out because Beth was craving grilled cheese and chai. What I got in return was my best Burning Man night yet and one of the most romantic nights of my life. I watched the stars, the art cars, the city, my fellow Amb Amb loungers, and soaked it all in delightedly. I was told stories, poestry was recited, I was sung too, and all while wrapped in the arms of a delicious Englishman under your cozy fleece blankets.

I was in absolute heaven and could not have asked for a better playa gift or better people to provide it. It was sheer bliss.

Much love and thanks,
Erin

Positions are available for ECTs who wish to camp with the Amb Amb camp, as well as ones who simply wish to work a few shifts. We will probably break up each night into 2 shifts with a schedule available to view on the web soon.

***If you think that you've got what it takes to join the team of Emergency Chill Technicians on the Ambience Ambulance in '04, CONTACT ME, melisande, aka Nurse AMBer ASAP!

It has come to my attention that I wrote "flit about me in a fairy manner. That's adorable!" in my profile here. I _do not_ remember writing this. I feel like Donnie Darko's mom. "I don't recall...him saying anything about...a giant bunny rabbit.....?"
What The Fuck.
I mean usually I can remember the motivations or time surrounding things I've written, but this one...well...draws a complete blank...
::sigh::
just thought I would share...

I'm living with an 11 year old boy and his mom. The other day I said "chill out" to he and one of his friends and in return I got a blank stare. What should I do? Is 11 too young to explain the facts of chilling?

Greetings, my name is Sobey from BC. i was at Burning Man the past 3 years and missed you guys but am glad you exist. Here in Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast where i bop back and forth i am involved with several collectives including an underground dance community organization called Tribal Harmonix (www.tribalharmonix.org), a downtempo collective called the Green Samurai Clan (www.greensamuraiclan.com or org) and the Ambient Consortium (which just has a mailing list at ambient-consortium@dreamlifenow.org. As a burner i would love to collaborate in future and hear more about what it is you do exactly.

Also welcome any of you to participate in anything we do around here.
