POSITION AVAILABLE: Emergency Chill Technician

The Ambience Ambulance is seeking a few dedicated, genial, and VERY relaxed individuals to provide chill to needy people during the week of August 28-September 5, 2004. Must be willing to travel to Black Rock City, NV.

REQUIREMENTS:

None, really. No experience is necessary. In fact, special preference will be given to applicants who have never been to Burning Man before. Well, technically, *all* applicants will be given special preference, but that's nitpicking.

RESPONSIBILITIES COULD INCLUDE:
--Staying up all night to bring ambient chill to the citizens of Black Rock City
--Preparing and serving chai and grilled cheese sandwiches
--Setting up lights and other decorations
--Greeting and welcoming
--Massage and bodywork
--Cleanup and strike at the end of the night

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED, but experienced massage therapists gladly welcomed!

COMPENSATION:
We offer no compensation and no benefits, except the satisfaction that one gets from seeing the serendipitous expressions of joy on people's faces as they randomly encounter a chill space in the middle of the playa that serves them hot chai and grilled cheese.

Positions are available for ECTs who wish to camp with the Amb Amb camp, as well as ones who simply wish to work a few shifts. If you think that you've got what it takes to join the team of Emergency Chill Technicians on the Ambience Ambulance in '04, contact this tribe's moderator ("Bob").

  • you know I'm all over this for '05!

This year, I'm a dedicated servant, a slave to the brain, a mindfully mindless....well, you get it.

I got my lab coat all starched up and ready...now all's we gotta do is synchronize our watches...like all loyal heroes do.

    love
    me

PS: I got mo'pix of you Mr.T, so look out!
Your face in the wee andc hours was priceless!
No matter how my camera captured it,
    m.mm.mmm...it was perfect blyss.
  • What a grand service you offer! I am not a DJ but I am a musician and could create some original music for the night, if that helps. I am not a body worker but can give a darn good back rub. I am not a chef but can handle a grilled cheese creation. Are you a camp or a roving band of chill minstrels?

Interestingly enough, my long term Burning Man pal, Gothic, and I have been considering spinning out of Hushille this year to create a chill space camp called Afterglow. We've noted a possible lack of dedicated chill/come down spaces in recent years (Hookadome, for the most part, aside), and thought Afterglow would be a great service to the BRC Community. It sounds like you are doing much the same.

It would be my honor to serve.
    • Because there is not much of a tribe presence here.
We do have a mailing list and we are getting ready for the AMB's last stand. We would absolutely love any crew.
The usual thing is we rove nightly. But to one spot per night. We are looking for people who want to learn the set up and take down as well as have a little time on the grill.... we'd love to have some help.

  • is ambient ambulance still around??

If so I would like to throw down. I have been spinning downtempo/ambient for a long ass time.

Always been a fan of AA. I have not been to BM since 2003. Finally going back this year. I will be camping in center camp @ 6:00 with Bubble Lounge. Please count me in . If you want to contact me directly I'm doktorboombay@yahoo.com

    • Thanks for your offer and your kind words Sorry to say the Ambiance Ambulance made its last trip to the Playa in 2006. Happily it has been reincarnated as a new and completely different art car in the hands of a new crew so the legacy will live on in modified form.
